The Mount Vernon (Ohio) Numismatic Society wants to increase awareness and interest in coin collecting for knowledge, understanding and enjoyment by the public. The purpose of this essay contest is to stimulate such interest among the youth of Knox County, Ohio.

Established in 1954, the Mount Vernon Numismatic Society is a local coin club serving Mt Vernon, Ohio and the surrounding counties.  The Society's goal is to encourage and promote interest in numismatics; to create and cultivate friendly relations between coin collectors and dealers; to especially encourage and assist amateur collectors. It provides a time and place for personal contact, education, trading; and for buying and selling coins.  This Society is non-profit making.

Most meetings also feature a live auction, at which both members and visitors may bid. If you live near Mount Vernon, why not come and visit us, we would love to see you.
